Anglu Farrugia, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malta, wrote on Thursday respectively to Gerard Larcher, President of the French Senate, and Claude Bartolone, President of the French National Assembly, to express his deepest sorrow following the tragic terrorist attack on the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris.

On behalf of the Members of the House of Representatives, Mr Speaker conveyed his sincerest condolences to the presidents and Honourable Members of the French Senate and the French National Assembly, as well as to the members of the family of the deceased.

He also expressed solidarity with his French counterparts in the fight against terrorism, which is a serious threat against democracy and freedom.

A day earlier, Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat condemned the attack on the office of the Paris satirical magazine, assuring solidarity with "the victims, families and people of France."

According to earlier reports, a police source confirmed on Thursday the two suspects of the Charlie Hebdo shooting were located in the Picardie municipality of Villers-Cotterets.

Twelve people, including two policemen, were killed on Wednesday and 11 others were wounded after two masked and armed men opened fire on the satirical magazine staff during an editorial meeting. Endit
