King Abdullah II of Jordan on Thursday condemned an armed attack at the headquarters of a Paris-based satirical weekly, Charlie Hebdo, which resulted in at least 12 fatalities.
Voicing solidarity with France, the king labeled the attacks as terrorist and cowardly.
He sent a cable of condolence to French President Francois Hollande expressing support and sympathy with the victims' families.
French authorities on Wednesday confirmed that at least 12 people were killed in the attack and four seriously wounded.
In November 2011, the headquarters of Charlie Hebdo was fire-bombed after it published caricatures of Prophet Muhammad on its cover, prompting a number of protests and demonstrations in Jordan and other Arab and Islamic countries.
Protestors at the demonstrations considered the caricatures of Prophet Mohammad as distasteful and offensive to Muslim sensitivities. Endit
