Singapore stocks close 1.42 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 46.75 points, or 1.42 percent, to close at 3,345.11.

A total of 1.41 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 15 billion Singapore dollars (865 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 254 to 131, while 555 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 16.41 points, or 0.5 percent, to close at 3,298.36 on Wednesday. Endi
