Snow Storm to Hit NW China, with Highway Traffic Snarled by Accidents

An overnight snow is getting heavier in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, as the local meteorological station issued a snow storm alert Wednesday morning.

The provincial communication department warned that all highways in the province have been affected. Four traffic accidents happened on highways in the province Wednesday morning, with no casualties reported.

Traffic police have been sent to smooth out the congestions.

The Taiping International Airport in the provincial capital of Harbin is still in operation.

The provincial meteorological station said the precipitation on Wednesday had reached 4 millimeters.
