The Palace Museums based in Chinese mainland and Taiwan will, for the first time, jointly hold an exhibition to showcase cultural relics of Qing Dynasty (1644 -1911) on Wednesday in Taipei.

The Beijing-based Palace Museum and the Taipei-based Palace Museum will put on show 246 historical documents, pictures and other articles related to Emperor Yongzheng (1678-1735).

Zheng Xinmiao, president of the Beijing-based museum, said the first joint exhibition was a fruit of the cooperation between the two museums.

Chou Kung-shin, director of the Taipei's museum, said the exhibition, which has been prepared for only about seven months, was long anticipated by the people on both sides.

The Beijing museum will hold an academic seminar in October 2010 and Chou has been invited to attend.
