No Summer Camp If Not Strictly Necessary

China's Ministry of Education has issued a notice calling for a halt on organizing unnecessary large scale student gatherings during the summer holidays, after seven children at a Beijing camp tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus.

The seven are all primary and middle school students in the Chinese capital city, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The ministry's emergency notice issued Sunday evening said event organizers should draft prevention and control contingency plans for a potential virus epidemic for student gatherings already underway or those that cannot be canceled. The organizers also should report their detailed plans to relevant authorities.

The ministry's notice said doctors and nurses should give medical checkups to students twice a day at large-scale events, such as summer camps. They should immediately file reports with local disease prevention and control authorities if they detect any flu-like symptoms.
