A school in south China's Guangdong Province was closed on Wednesday after 11 students were confirmed as A/H1N1 cases, local authorities said.
The children from the same class in the Beijiao Center Primary School of Pengjiang District, Jiangmen City, were tested positive for A/H1N1 on Tuesday. The result was confirmed on Wednesday by the provincial Center for Disease Prevention and Control, according to the provincial health department.
The authorities decided to close the school for a week and have quarantined those in close contact with the patients.
All the patients were in stable condition, doctors said.
This was Guangdong's second city to close schools to check spread of A/H1N1 among students.
Authorities in Dongguan City ordered on Tuesday a one-week closure of all schools and kindergartens in Shipai Township where 43 students from the same primary school had been confirmed as A/H1N1 cases as of Wednesday. Classes will resume June 30.
Shipai Township Central Primary School, with 1,314 students, was closed last week when the first six cases were reported.
China's mainland had confirmed 528 A/H1N1 cases as of Wednesday.
