Latest Samples of Fresh Milk Pass Melamine Test

China's fresh milk products are safe with melamine content below the required level, China's Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) said on Friday.
Latest tests of 3,373 milk samples from 2,259 milk collection stations and 1,114 carriers in China's 29 provincial areas, including Beijing, showed that none of them had problems with melamine contamination, MOA said.
In addition, tests of samples from 903 milk collection stations from China's 13 dairy-producing provincial areas, including Inner Mongolia, found no leather hydrolysate in the tested products.
MOA had tightened up regulations on milk collection stations after the breaking of last year's melamine contamination scandal, which had lead to notable improvement in fresh milk quality, said sources with MOA.
The ministry had conducted on-site supervision, introduced technical standard and cracked down on illegal milk collection station, said sources.
MOA would continue to better its control on fresh milk quality this year by implementing technical standards and a supervisory plan, and issuing licenses for milk collection, as well as promoting construction of large-scale collection stations and standard management, according to MOA.
