China to Hold National Congress for Disabled

The China Disabled Persons Federation is to hold its 5th national congress in Beijing from November 11 to 13, when it will set goals for helping the country's disabled in the next five years.

Congress delegates will also discuss the federation's goals and tasks till 2020. They will revise the federation's constitution and elect a new leadership.

However, the federation declined to elaborate on what specific issues they would discuss.

According to the federation, 625 delegates will attend the conference, and 155 people from government departments and other organizations were invited to speak.

Disabled persons and their relatives and friends will make up about 70 percent of the total delegates, with an average age of 47. About 84 percent of delegates have a college education.

The federation holds a national congress every five years.
