Vice Premier Stresses Technological Innovation in Agriculture

Vice Premier Hui Liangyu on Tuesday urged more efforts to push forward technological innovations and the cultivation of talented personnel to ensure the stable development of agriculture.

Efforts should be accelerated in the development and introduction of a batch of core agricultural technologies to enhance the overall agricultural technological strength, Hui said at a national agricultural elites awarding conference in Beijing.

Over the past 30 years of reform and opening up, China had made great achievements in agricultural and rural development, he said.

"Efforts should also be exerted to promote the transformation and application of agricultural technological achievements," Hui said.

He called for more investment and diversified promotion in agricultural technology and international cooperation in the area.
