A three-day work stoppage of bus drivers in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China's Yunnan Province ended on Thursday night after local government granted their petitions, local official said.

Some 500 bus drivers who operated bus routes from Dali to subordinated counties, went on a strike from Tuesday to protest against a document newly released by the Dali Transport Company (Group) which they work for.

Local bus drivers joined the company with their own vehicles. However, the company document said that the ownership of the buses would be transferred to the company, which bus drivers said would jeopardize their interests.

The strike has trapped a large number of passengers at bus stations and normal traffic has been severely disturbed.

Local government agreed to order the government-owned transport company to abolish the controversial document after negotiations with the drivers and the drivers promised to resume work on Friday, said an official with the publicity department of Dali Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The strike was peaceful and "no one has overreacted" during the entire incident, the official said.
