Metro Tower in Xujiahui, Shanghai, is the first office
building in the city to invite experts to give psychological
guidance to office clerks, another measure to enhance health care
for white-collar workers.
The service, which started last month, has received a warm
welcome, organizers said.
"After giving lectures and medical consultations on general
health care, we found that office clerks are more interested in
psychological direction," said Yu Wei, a health official in the
shopping district. "They complain about strong pressure due to high
work loads, keen competition and difficulty in good communicating
with colleagues, bosses and clients."
Authorities Xujiahui invited expert volunteers to provide
psychological service every Tuesday afternoon.
"If the consultation service in Metro Tower runs smoothly, we
will promote the service to more buildings in the area," Yu
added.
Health officials at Xuhui District said the region always
focuses on office clerks in campaigns to enhance local health.
A project, called the office-building health plan, has been
ongoing for two to three years.
