Staffers at a temple in Xi'an of northwest China's Shaanxi Province cook Laba rice porridge ahead of Laba Festival, which falls on Jan 11 this year. The Laba Festival, which falls on the eighth day of the twelfth month on the lunar calendar, commemorates Sakyamuni Buddha's enlightenment. Chinese celebrate the day by eating Laba porridge, which is made with rice, nuts, cereal and dried fruit. [Xinhua]
