Nicaraguan Health Minister Guillermo Gonzalez told reporters that the new cases were detected in the western zone of Managua, where a five-year-old girl had been confirmed as the country's first A/H1N1 case.
Gonzalez said classes in six private schools in Western Managua have been suspended as an attempt to cut contagious chain among the students.
"Currently we have been able to detect two of each three positive infections at school, where the virus probably arrived from someone who traveled abroad and transmitted it to the students," Gonzalez said.
He said that over the weekend, some 1,800 health volunteers inspected 34,000 houses, checking 150,000 people to detect cases of A/H1N1 flu.
He said almost 100 percent of the confirmed cases were from District Dos of Managua and the health authorities have taken measures to stem the spread of the virus.
