The Central Military Commission (CMC) of China has issued a five-year plan (2008-2012) on punishing and preventing corruption in the army.
The General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the CMC's commission for discipline inspection have jointly issued a decree urging all military units to study the plan, in an attempt to push forward the anti-corruption drive in the army.
The plan sets out the fundamental principles and targets for the anti-corruption drive in the army, with overall arrangements for the programs concerned.
In recent years, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has stepped up efforts to carry out a nationwide anti-corruption drive, in order to increase the governing capacity of the Party and maintain and develop the advanced nature of the Party.
