China's Vice Premier Hui Liangyu on Thursday asked governments at various levels to issue more favorable policies and improve services to help the disabled find jobs.

"Employment of the disabled people affects not only the interests of their own and their families, but also China's reform, development and stability," Hui said at a nationwide conference.

The State Council last February adopted a draft regulation to promote employment of the disabled people.

Government departments at all levels are required to provide more training opportunities to the disabled and help them find jobs.

The regulation also requires government departments to create more job opportunities to the disabled and better protect their legal rights.

Hui said government at all levels must seriously observe the law and issue more favorable and protective measures to create more job opportunities for the disabled.

Local governments were also asked to offer more help to the poor disabled people in rural areas and help them get out of poverty through farming, livestock breeding and food or raw material processing.

China has about 83 million disabled people, accounting for 6.34percent of the country's population. More than 75 percent of the disabled, or 62.25 million, are living in rural areas.
