Energy Saving Exhibition Opens in Beijing

The 2006 Beijing Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Exhibition opened here Tuesday at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center.

The 6-day exhibition, with the theme of energy saving and development, will display the latest energy saving technologies and products from home and abroad.

Liu Qi, secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan attended the opening ceremony and were shown around the exhibition.

The exhibition covers energy saving concepts and devices for industry, transportation and housing. There are also exhibits on water conservation, renewable resources management, environmental protection and the green Olympics project.

Liu and Zeng, who are also members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, asked questions of many of the exhibitors who displayed pictures, models and gave demonstrations.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Beijing People's Government and supported by the National Development and Reform Commission, among others.
