Top Leader Calls for Rejuvenation of Northeastern Industrial Base

Top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin called for speeding up of rejuvenation of northeastern industrial base when he ended an inspection tour in northeast China's Jilin Province on Tuesday.

The local government is urged to increase the output of cereal crops and place more emphasis on the rural education and health care.

Jilin must make its utmost to make it an auto manufacturing base with strong competitive power, said Jia, who is chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Featuring auto manufacturing industry, Jilin is one of China's old industrial bases, which the central government is endeavoring to rejuvenate.
