China to Set up City Medicare System

China will introduce a city medicare system to ensure that urban people in poverty can get treatment.

The government will allocate 300 million yuan, or US$36 million, a year to pay for the system.

China has already built a rural medical relief system in more than 930 counties, covering some five million poor people.
