Temperatures in much of China this summer will be similar to or
higher than the temperature of an ordinary summer, Xu Liangyan, a
senior researcher with the National Climate Center, said on
Thursday.
But the temperature in the southern part of northeast China,
central and western Inner Mongolia, the Gansu Corridor in northwest
China, northern Xinjiang and the region from the southeastern part
of the Yangtze River to south China will be a little lower than the
average period temperature, said Xu.
The flood season, from June to August, may come to two rain-rich
zones in north China and south China respectively, said Xu.
The rain-rich zone in northern China is located at the southern
part of northeast China, the northern and western parts of north
China, the most parts of the middle and lower reaches of the
Huanghe River and northern Xinjiang, said Xu.
The rain-rich zone in southern China mainly distributes in the
region south of the Yangtze River and the eastern part of south
China.
Regions along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and
southeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau will see more precipitation than
the average period, while other regions of China will has less
rain, said Xu.
The temperatures in much of northeast China in June will be a
little higher than the average period, while August will see lower
temperatures in this region, said Xu.
Moreover, the latest climate tendency forecast shows that the
number of tropical cyclones and typhoons in the northwest Pacific
Ocean and the South China Sea area this year are less than the
average number of 27, but tropical cyclones and typhoons landing
China is similar to the average number of seven.
