China's Software Industry Soars
Over the past few years, China' software industry has been enjoying an annual growth of 30 percent, thanks in part to support from the government. Turnover totaled 110 billion yuan (US$13 billion) last year, according to the Ministry of Information Industry.

China now has more than 6,000 certified software enterprises, plus 11 state-level software production bases. Chinese operating systems and related software products have been well developed and are among the best of their kind on the world market.

In order to further enhance the international competitiveness of the industry, the Ministry of Information Industry says the government will continue to back up development in this sector, with a set of preferential policies on investment, taxes, and government purchases.
