Mobile Phone Users Increase Rapidly in China
Mobile phone subscribers have been increasing by five million per month this year, and the total number reached 136 million at the end of October.

The number is approaching that of fixed telephone line subscribers which now stands at 174.76 million, according to the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry.

In the first ten months of this year, China's telecommunications sector had 170 billion yuan (about 20.5 billion U.S. dollars) in fixed assets and a 23.5 percent rise in gross telecom services compared with the same period last year.

China now has 24.4 phones for every 100 people. Of these, there are 9.2 mobile phones for every 100 people.
