The China Red Cross Society on Thursday offered 900,000 yuan (about US$120,000) worth of supplies to provinces hit by typhoon Sepat.

The supplies, including 220 tons of rice, 240 tents and 5,000 cases of instant food, have been sent to Hunan, Fujian and Zhejiang provinces in central and southeastern China, according to a spokesman of the China Red Cross.

The society's branches in Zhejiang, Hunan and Fujian have allocated more than 2 million yuan (about US$263,000) to the relief work.

By Wednesday, Sepat had killed 39 people and left another eight missing, and affected the lives of more than 8 million people. Total economic loss reached 6.71 billion yuan (about US$894.7 million).
