Chinese government on Friday donated medicines worth of around US$20,000 to B. P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, a Nepalese hospital assisted by China.

Zheng Xianglin, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, handed over the medicine to the hospital in Chitwan on behalf of the Chinese government.

"With the joint efforts of both sides over the past nine years, B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital has made great progress and become a key hospital in Chitwan and even in the whole country," the ambassador said.

Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav expressed the gratitude to China for its support of building the hospital and the hope that this cooperation would continue in future as well.

"As a friendly neighbor of Nepal, China highly values the traditional friendship with Nepal. It will unswervingly support Nepal's efforts in securing peace and development and in reducing and eliminating poverty, and be committed to consolidating and developing good neighborliness on the basis of mutual respect, support, trust and benefit, and equality," Zheng said.

"China will, as usual, provide assistance for the social and economic development of Nepal within its capacity, continue deepening the friendly and pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and promote the comprehensive and profound development of China-Nepal relations," Zheng said.

The Chinese ambassador also extended his wish to the Nepali people of a pleasant festival in the coming Dashain festival.
