Experts to Help Clean up Argentina's Polluted River

Chinese experts will help in pollution control efforts for one of the most polluted rivers in Argentina, the mayor of Buenos Aires said on Thursday.

Maurizio Macri has just returned from a visit to China's megacity Shanghai, where he inquired about the Shanghai municipal government's experiences in cleaning up the Suzhou River which runs through the city.

In 10 years' time, the once heavily polluted Suzhou River has improved to become a picturesque urban landscape.

There was a lot to learn from Shanghai's experiences, Macri told reporters.

At the request of the Buenos Aires city government, Shanghai will send river pollution control experts to the South American country to offer advice in their field of expertise to help clean up the badly polluted Riachuelo River which flows past the capital city.
