The Chinese city of Wenzhou signed an agreement of intent with Vienna on technological cooperation Thursday and the two sides pledged joint efforts to build a science park in the Austrian capital.
The signing ceremony was attended by Sepp Rieder, Vienna mayor's special representative in scientific and economic cooperation, and a delegation from Wenzhou, a booming export-driven city in eastern China's Zhejiang Province.
Rieder, who is also former deputy mayor of Vienna, said at the ceremony that cooperation between Vienna and Wenzhou would help promote the economic development in both cities.
Under the agreement, the two sides will deepen their cooperation in the the fields of energy, automobile manufacture, biotechnology, urban supplies and Chinese medicine.
The two sides also reached consensus on jointly building a "China Science and Technology Park" in Vienna in an effort to attract more high-tech Chinese enterprises to Vienna.
