Trade Unions of China, Nigeria to Strengthen Friendship

Leaders of Chinese and Nigerian trade unions on Wednesday pledged to further friendship and cooperation.

"All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) has always viewed the Nigerian trade unions as good friends," said Wang Zhaoguo, president of ACFTU, during a meeting with the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) President Abdulwahed Omar.

China appreciated Nigerian trade unions' sincere support to ACFTU and the firm stance on international trade union affairs, said Wang, adding the visit could help to push forward the continuous development of ties between Chinese and Nigerian trade unions.

Wang is also a member of the Political Bureau of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.

Abdulwahed Omar expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and ACFTU's assistance to Nigeria, saying the NLC is ready to work with ACFTU to lift bilateral ties to a new height.
