Albania Grateful to China for Computer Donation

Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha expressed thanks to China on Monday for donating about 1,400 units of computers to Albania to help with its promotion of computer use in its high schools.

"I, on behalf of the Albanian government, express my heart-felt thanks to the Chinese government and the Chinese people for donating these precious computer equipment," Berisha said at the handing-over ceremony, held in a Tirana school.

He said he believed these computers will be a great help to the promotion of computer use in Albanian high schools and help usher in a digital era in his country.

Tian Chang-chun, Chinese ambassador to Albania, said he hopes these computers would be conducive to Albania's educational development and provide an up-moving platform for the country's youth.

The equipment, worth one million euros (US$1.23 million), consists of 1,360 TCL computers, 68 printers and other hardwares.
