China and Vietnam on Friday
agreed to further their cooperation in such areas as
infrastructure, energy development and
telecommunication.
Premier Wen Jiabao and visiting Vietnamese President
Nguyen Minh Triet held a meeting in Beijing Friday, vowing to boost
trade cooperation and support enterprises' investment in respective
countries as the two countries share complementary
economies.
"China and Vietnam, both engaging in reform and
construction, should consolidate neighborly friendship, enhance
reciprocal cooperation," Wen said.
China highly values
relations with Vietnam and will make joint efforts with Vietnam to
lift bilateral ties to a new level, Wen added.
Triet spoke highly of bilateral ties, saying Vietnam
and China would deepen pragmatic cooperation and push forward
friendship.
Triet reiterated Vietnam's firm adherence to the
one-China policy.
Also on Friday, Chinese top political advisor Jia
Qinglin met with Triet, pledging to uplift China-Vietnam all-round
cooperation.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese
People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top
advisory body, hailed the development of China-Vietnam relations in
recent years. He said the enhancement of win-win cooperation and
political trust meets the fundamental interests of the two
peoples.
China's CPPCC and Vietnam's
Fatherland Front have kept close contacts and various exchanges
among specific departments, he said.
The two sides agreed to further enhance exchanges
between the CPPCC and Vietnam's Fatherland Front in a bid to
contribute to facilitating overall bilateral ties.
Triet said his country is ready to join hands with
China to carry out the important consensus reached between the two
state leaders and expand cooperation in trade and other
areas.
Invited by Chinese President Hu Jintao, Triet paid a state visit to China
from May 15 to 18.
