Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo met with Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation (GICDF) Chairman Saif Al Islam Al Gaddafi in Shanghai Friday.
Saif Gaddafi is in China for the World Expo. He attended celebrations of the Libyan National Pavilion Day Wednesday and China National Pavilion Day Friday marking the 61st anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China.
It is Saif Gaddafi's second China visit in almost three decades. "I hope this trip will greatly impress you, despite your short stay in China," said Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), citing the great changes in China since Saif Gaddafi last came in 1982.
Libya-China relations were at an "historical best period," Saif Gaddafi told Wu, saying both sides should further the already sound ties with more cooperation.
Many countries had friendly relations with China and cooperative agreements with Chinese businesses, Saif Gaddafi said.
He hoped his trip would boost cooperation between his country and China.
As head of an international non-governmental organization focusing on developmental and humanitarian activities, Saif Gaddafi also met with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Monday and expressed willingness to further bilateral economic and trade cooperation with China and welcomed more Chinese companies to invest in Libya.
