Shanghai sets ready for the 2010 world expo, as the city is marking the 100-day countdown on Thursday. During 2009, Shanghai completed a series of infrastructure projects for the 2010 World Expo, including 86 key projects.

Construction sites cover more than 6,000 locations across the city. Four new metro lines are in operation, and two more are due to start soon. Shanghai will have over 400 kilometers in metro lines.

Environmental protection is also a part of the city's construction work. Sewage disposal, air quality, and green coverage have all improved significantly.
