Pavilion Highlight:

The most distinguished feature of the Swiss Pavilion is the cable car ride. The jouney takes about 10 minutes and the total capacity for the cable car is 3,500 people per hour. The cable car will take people up and out to the roof garden from the inside pavilion. The chairs are sheltered to ensure operation under the raining weather.

Pavilion Features:

A combination of technological insight and beautiful dream -- Swiss Pavilion best shows the characteristics of modern Switzerland: pursuing excellence, innovation and high-quality life, as well as concepts of future facing, forward looking and sustainable development.

Focal Point 1:

The pavilion is an open space, with its exterior finishing made from degradable soybean fibre which are also capable of generating electricity.

Focal Point 2:

The design concept is visible in a mix of many contradictory elements, the Chinese Philosophy of "Yin" and "Yang" is well reflected in the entire building, to achieve an ingenious combination of high-tech and Nature.

Focal Point 3:

Riding a cable car, people can get to the roof for a sightseeing of the classic Swiss scenery. The cable car will lift visitors from the ground floor where the exhibition focuses on Swiss urban civilization, to the roof where a tranquil space close to nature and far away from the crowd is provided. The green common milfoils and dandelions of Heidi’s hometown will also be planted on the grassland on the roof.

Focal Point 4:

Specially designed solar energy panel on the exterior of the pavilion will absorb solar energy in the day and provide energy for lighting in the evening, creating rich lighting effect to the pavilion.
