China Launches Programs for Development of Chinese Women

The National Coordinating Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, later known as the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, was established in Beijing. It coordinates governmental departments to implement policies, rules and regulations on children and women and promote their development.
August 7, 1995
The Chinese government published the Program for the Development of Chinese Women (1995-2000) which brought the goals and tasks of women's development into China's economic and social development plan. The first blueprint for the development of Chinese women, the program and was a milestone in Chinese women's development.
May 22, 2001
Chinese government issued the Program for the Development of Chinese Women (2001-2010), which better protects women's rights and interests, enhances women's quality, promotes gender equality and encourages more significant roles for women in socialist modernization construction.
