A five-year-old boy has died in Singapore as the latest victim of the Influenza A/H1N1 virus, which has killed 18 persons as of last September in the country.
According to Channel NewsAsia reports on Thursday night, the boy, who was admitted to a local hospital, was said to have caught the virus from his uncle, but it is not clear when he died as the local hospital did not disclose the details.
The boy's death is possibly the first since the country's Ministry of Health downgraded its H1N1 flu alert status from yellow to green on Feb. 12.
Before this, the youngest reported H1N1 victim in the city state was a two-year-old boy, who died last November.
According to the latest figures from the ministry, the prevalence of H1N1 among patients with influenza-like illness in the country was 28 percent. Overall, there are no signs of a significant rise in influenza activity in Singapore.
