HK Reports 64th Fatal Case of A/H1N1 Flu

The Hospital Authority of Hong Kong announced Monday that a 76-year-old man with a history of lung disease died days after he was confirmed to have contracted the A/H1N1 flu, bringing the toll of the flu to 64 in the city.
The patient, which had suffered from Chronic Obstructive Airway Disease, was admitted into Pok Oi Hospital for treatment on January 13 with flu symptoms.
He tested positive for the A/H1N1 flu later on the day and was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics. However, his condition deteriorated and was transferred to the High Dependency Unit, where he was found dead on January 24.
A spokesman from the Hospital Authority said another A/H1N1 flu patient, who aged 52 with good past health, is now in critical condition and requires ventilation support.
The hospital will continue to closely monitor his condition.
