9 Thai Students Found Contracted with A/H1N1 Influenza

Nine Thai students had been found contracted with the A/H1N1 influenza, the Thai education ministry said Monday.

The infected students were discovered during a period of January 18 to 23, 2010, according to the Office of the Commission for Basic Education, Thai News Agency reported.

Those infected students included two in capital Bangkok, two in northern province of Phrae, three in central province of Ayudhaya, one in northeastern province of Chaiyaphoom and another one in southernmost province of Narathiwas.

Since June 2009 until now totally 2,708 Thai students were affected by the A/H1N1 influenza, the Office of the Commission for Basic Education said.

As the situation is now under control, however schools nationwide have been instructed to strictly follow the precautionary steps against the new flu, it said.

Last Wednesday the country reported two more death cases due to the A/H1N1 influenza, bringing Thailand's death toll from the new flu contraction to 198.
