Finland has passed the peak of the A/H1N1 flu epidemic, seeing possibility of a second wave of the epidemic by the coming April, the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare said in a statement on Monday.
According to the agency, a total of 7,586 cases of A/H1N1 flu have been confirmed in Finland so far, with 36 fatalities related to the virus.
It also noted that further cases can appear throughout the winter although the epidemic is subsiding in the country. A second wave of the A/H1N1 flu epidemic is expected to break out in Finland by next April or by the autumn at the latest.
A massive vaccination plan against A/H1N1 flu covering the entire population is under way in the country. Currently some 1.2 million Finns have been inoculated against the A/H1N1 virus.
