Death Toll from A/H1N1 Flu Reaches 59 in Egypt

Egypt on Monday reported three more death cases of A/H1N1 flu, bringing the nationwide death toll to 59, said the Health Ministry in a statement.
A 42-year-old man died of A/H1N1 virus in Beheira, 130 km north of Cairo, said Health Ministry spokesman Abdel Rahman Shahine, adding that the man suffered from severe dyspnea and cirrhosis.
Shahine said that another 48-year-old woman died of A/H1N1 virus in Beni Suef, 120 km south of Cairo, adding that she suffered from pneumonia and dyspnea.
The third case was a 27-year-old pregnant woman in Minia, 220 km south of Cairo, said the spokesman, adding that she suffered from fever, pneumonia and heart problems.
Up till now, Egypt has reported more than 4,792 cases of the novel flu in the most populous Arab country, according to the Health Ministry.
Egypt confirmed its first influenza A/H1N1 death case on July 19. A 28-year-old Egyptian woman, who was back from Saudi Arabia after making Umrah (pilgrimage to Mecca at any time of the year), died of the flu virus.
Egypt reported its first A/H1N1 flu case on June 2, a 12-year-old Egyptian-American girl coming from the United States via the Netherlands.
