Queensland acting chief health officer Christine Selvey said on Friday people traveling overseas had been advised to have their A/H1N1 flu shot before they leave.
"All international travelers aged over 10 should get vaccinated for A/H1N1 flu," said.
Selvey said the influenza pandemic had been detected all around the world and is expected to continue during the northern hemisphere winter.
"Overseas travelers from Queensland and elsewhere in Australia should talk to their GP or health provider about being vaccinated against the pandemic flu," she said.
"As well, seasonal influenza vaccination before traveling overseas is suggested for those in large tourist groups, including those on cruises, and those vulnerable groups for whom it is normally recommended."
Selvey said it was hoped a vaccine for children from six months to 10 years will be available in the next few months.
