Russia has confirmed 35 A/H1N1 flu cases, the country's chief sanitary official Gennady Onishchenko said on Thursday.

"A total of 35 patients have been recorded to date. This has been confirmed by all the tests available in Russia," Onishchenko told Ekho Moskvy radio.

He said the number of confirmed infections would grow later in the day.

"We will add another six (cases) in our report at the end of this day. There will be 41 of them," he said.

It was reported that the first batch of vaccines against the A/H1N1 flu virus is expected to be ready in Russia by October 1.

Onishchenko said Russia would produce 16 million doses of the vaccines by the end of the year.
