Honduras Confirms 2nd Death of A/H1N1 Flu

The Honduran Director of Health Vigilance, Marco Antonio Pinel, reported on Wednesday the second death ofA/H1N1 flu in the country.

The patient was a 32-year-old woman from Alauca, a town in the border zone with Nicaragua, east of Honduras.

Pinel said a health team was investigating the spread of the infection within this zone.

Health authorities were also making efforts to avoid outbreaks of diseases like dengue and malaria, Pinel added.

Honduras announced its first death of A/H1N1 flu on June 22. The victim was a 23-year-old woman from western Honduras.

The country reported its first infected patient, a 9-year-old, on May 21 in San Pedro Sula, 240 km northwest of Tegucigalpa.
