The Vietnamese Ministry of Health confirmed 113 more cases of A/H1N1 influenza over the weekend, bringing the total number of flu patients in the country to 612, local newspaper the People reported on Monday.
Most of the newly confirmed cases are in the southern parts of the country, said the newspaper.
As the number of A/H1N1 flu cases continues to rise, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung required all the ministries and localities to carry out urgent measures to fight the flu.
They were asked to adopt preventive measures and closely monitor new cases to prevent the A/H1N1 flu from spreading.
So far, 375 patients in Vietnam have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. The rest are being quarantined and treated, said the newspaper.
