The Malaysian Health Ministry said 62 new cases of A/H1N1 flu were confirmed on Monday, including 34 locally transmitted cases and 28 imported ones.

Malaysian Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai said that the locally transmitted cases had outnumbered the imported cases for the first time since the virus infection was detected in the country in May.

However, he said the epidemic in the country was under control, though the total number of the confirmed cases has reached 772.

So far, Malaysia has recorded a total of 535 imported cases and237 locally transmitted cases since May.

Liow added that the recovery rate of the patients was very high in the country, without providing any further details.

He also urged Malaysians to practice healthy lifestyle to avoid diseases, including the flu and non-contagious diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases.
