Two American tourists in east China's Jiangsu Province were confirmed as A/H1N1 patients on Monday, the local health department said.
The two developed a fever during their stay in Suzhou City. They tested positive for A/H1N1 Sunday in the Suzhou Center for Disease Prevention and Control. The result was subsequently confirmed by the Jiangsu Provincial Health Department.
The man and woman, both in their 20s, arrived in Shanghai from New York last Wednesday on American Airlines C0087 and traveled to Suzhou by train Friday, the department said.
They were being treated in the Suzhou No.5 People's Hospital and were in stable condition, doctors said. No other details were available.
Those found to have been in close contact with the patients were put under observation.
