A second outbreak of A/H1N1 flu is likely to occur in Mexico after the transition from summer to autumn, the health minister said on Tuesday.
Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova said at a news conference that lower temperatures during the fall would benefit the spread of the A/H1N1 virus and likely trigger a second outbreak of the disease that first appeared in April.
Cordova said that most Mexicans can now go to hospitals to be examined as soon as they become aware of any suspected flu symptoms. He said citizens should remain alert and be prepared to deal with any likelihood of another flu outbreak.
The Health Ministry said there have been 6,970 cases of confirmed A/H1N1 infections in Mexico with a death toll of 113 people. The latest case of flu was found May 31, the ministry said.
