Colombian authorities confirmed on Monday three new cases of the influenza A/H1N1, raising the infection toll to 45, including one death.

The three patients came from the central department of Boyaca and the northwestern department of Antioquia, according to a report from the Social Protection Ministry.

The two patients from Boyaca department are teenagers, brother and sister, who arrived from Argentina. Another patient is a man who had contact with infected people abroad.

Colombian government announced last Thursday that it had tightened control at hospitals and health centers after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the influenza A/H1N1 a global pandemic.

Colombia, first South American country reporting A/H1N1 flu cases on May 3, also has 193 suspected cases till Monday, according to the Social Protection Ministry.
