The Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare confirmed on Thursday the fifth case of A/H1N1 flu in Finland.
The male patient in southwest Finland returned from Australia on Monday and went to hospital on Wednesday, complaining of A/H1N1flu symptoms. The man is now in good condition and quarantined at home. Relevant departments are searching for other passengers who traveled with the patient on the same flight.
The World Health Organization declared an A/H1N1 flu pandemic earlier on Thursday, as infections in the United States, Europe, Australia, South America and elsewhere climbed to nearly 30,000 cases.
However, the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare said in a statement released on Thursday that there was no need to panic as Finland was well prepared for the threat of A/H1N1 flu.
