Venezuelan Health Minister Jesus Mantilla said on Wednesday that one new A/H1N1 flu case had been confirmed in the country, bringing the total number of the epidemic to four.
Mantilla said the new case was a patient who arrived from Brazil.
"This morning (Wednesday) the National Institute of Hygiene reported the new case to me, but there is no reason to be feared. The system in the country is working," Mantilla said.
No further information about the fourth case was available now.
The first case in Venezuela registered on May 28 was a young man who arrived from Panama, while the second and third cases were infected by him.
Venezuelan health authorities declared a state of emergency last weekend after reporting the first A/H1N1 flu case in the country.
So far, the National Institute of Hygiene has tested 225 blood samples, among which 221 are negative and four positive.
