The Ecuadorian Public Health Ministry confirmed on Tuesday a new case of A/H1N1 flu, bringing the country's total infections to 43.
The new case involves a 17-year-old patient from the southwestern city of Guayaquil, who was infected by a previously infected person, the ministry said in a statement.
Health officials are evaluating if there are other infected cases related with them.
Of the 43 confirmed cases in the country, 35 have so far recovered and are now under perfect health conditions, thus representing no risk of infecting other people, it said.
The other patients are now under medical surveillance, said the statement.
