A/H1N1 Flu Cases Rise to 32 in Ecuador

The cases of the confirmed A/H1N1 flu in Ecuador rose to 32 on Wednesday after four new cases confirmed in the Pacific region.
The four new cases were registered in Guayaquil, which has a total of 31 cases, bringing to the total in the country to 32, Health Director from Guayas, Eduardo Verdesoto said.
Verdesoto told the press that of the four new cases one is a children, one a Dominican and the other two are adults related to previous cases.
Verdesoto also said that since Tuesday night there are four foreigners quarantined under medical observance at the Infectology Hospital Jose Daniel Rodriguez.
According to Verdesoto, the temperature scanner at the international airport of Jose Joaquin Olmedo in Guayaquil detected high temperature of these travelers.
Meanwhile, Interior and Exterior Security Minister Miguel Carvajal told reporters that Ecuador is coordinating with Colombia and Peru to take preventive measures against the H1N1 flu.
"The fact that most of the 32 confirmed patients had had contact with people who arrived from abroad means that the virus is not circulating in the country," Carvajal said.
